On Match 15, 2020, all AARP DRIVER SAFETY instructors were told that all Driver Safety Courses were cancelled through June 30, 2020. At that time, little did we know that our cancelled classes were going to be cancelled through December 31, 2021, and maybe even longer. What could we do? We teach our Driver’s safety Course to over 20,000 people over 55 every year. What could we do?
Then we discovered Zoom. We could learn to teach our course using Zoom. A great idea at first, but we had to get a Nevada DMV permission first. This was not as easy as we thought. However, we finally got permission and started training our instructors how to teach using Zoom. We began our classes in April of 2021. So far people have said this is the best way to take the class – Live instructors, great interaction as well as questions being answered, and it all takes place in the attendee’s home.
Well, in Nevada, we held telephone meetings to find a way to get our class to the seniors in need of extending their auto insurance company discounts, which last for three years.
WHAT YOU GET FOR THE CLASS
- By Nevada law, three years of auto insurance discounts. These discounts vary from 2% to 12%, depending on the company.
- Proper ways to adjust our bodies and minds to the physical, medical, vehicle, law, and road changes.
- Strategies to drive safer in many different situations.
- Information on new technology vehicles and discounts you should get for owning them.
